Mate nothing but repect from me.
I worked for more than 20 years in Live Theatre and Music.

Integrity belief and commitment from all participants is the key to work that communicates and sometimes even sells :)

Your model demonstrably works well, I believe it can scale.

So long as it maintains integrity, artistic control and uses a "distributed" approach.

It hard work, but a fair days pay for fair days work can be had.

These days I muck abut with Open Source Software, the success of Ubuntu Google/Andoid is similar. (though by no means identical)

Half of the trick seems to be protecting yourself from Corporate "acquire absorb exploit" model , while allowing them to use your tools. In this case the more they exploit you the more ubuiquity your work has so the more valuable it becomes.

e.g. most contemporary TVs run Linux.

The other half is totally about users (audience) and coders (performers/writers) ownership of the project and its Intellectual property.

Anyone who thinks software dont have "Fans" hasn't seen any "Ithing" TM. release.

I know this is not directly transferable but none the less there are concepts that can be applied in both directions. The CC type licences being one example.

Of course hand crafting CD covers takes time, people want this (not always but more than often enough) becuase it truly humanises/connects then with the performance.

The genuine talent and real effort you guys have shows in your work, as much as the work of the musicians, it all helps "tell the story".

These days in reality they can almost always find some version of the "product" somewhere for next to no charge. (legality? sheeze)

What Stoby has is Humanity :)

This sounds wonderful! Sent me in a trance and off I went:
Crossin' the delta in my imaginary Cadillac, sun in my eyes and the wind at my back, cruisin' and groovin' from state to state, "Double Oh Blues" on my licence plate
